The course will take place near Whitefish, MT at Stryker. This group class will provide professional instruction and a safer method to learn how to lead on sport routes. The focus will be on the proper technique to place gear (cams, nuts and hexes) as well as tactics of when and where gear should be placed. Individuals will initially be doing a mock lead (practicing lead climbing while still attached to a top-rope for extra protection). With proper training, proven skill development, confidence and consent of the instructor, students may elect to then lead without the top-rope back up.
Dates: August 8th at Stryker
Time: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Meet at the climbing site.
And since will be having a one-hour lunch break, be sure to pack your own lunch.
The prerequisite for this course is the Intro to Top-Rope Climbing Class or previous climbing experience.
